Beginners
Monday-Thursday 10:00AM-12:30PM
This class is for youth just starting sailing or for those who have only been sailing for a short time and need to learn and refine the basics of sailing. This class will cover basic knots, parts of the boat, rigging, and points of sail. It will mostly handle Optimist sailing, occasionally using N-10s. Sailors who are comfortable are encouraged to sail in club regattas.
Intermediates
Monday-Thursday 1:00PM-4:00PM
This class is for youth sailors who have been sailing for a few years and understand basic knots, points of sail, tacking, and gybing, but want to learn more. This class will cover the basics of racing as well as introduce 420 sailing. It is often combined with the racing tactics class. Sailors should aim to sail in off-lake regattas.
Racing Tactics
Monday-Thursday 1:00PM-4:00PM
This is an advanced class for youth sailors looking to learn better racing strategies and to participate in off-lake regattas. This class will cover various strategies for upwind and downwind sailing, as well as starting strategies. Sailors will mainly be sailing 420s, with opportunities to also sail lasers.
Evening Beginners
Tuesday/Thursday 5:30PM-7:45PM
This class is for younger youth sailors just starting sailing or for those who have only been sailing for a short time and need to learn and refine the basics of sailing. This class will cover basic knots, parts of the boat, rigging, and points of sail. It will mostly handle Optimist sailing, occasionally using N-10s. Sailors who are comfortable are encouraged to sail in club regattas.
Evening Advanced
Tuesday/Thursday 5:30PM-7:45PM
This class is for older youth sailors just starting sailing or for those who have only been sailing for a short time and need to learn and refine the basics of sailing. This class will cover basic knots, parts of the boat, rigging, and points of sail. Depending on the pace and readiness of the class, they will begin to get into basic racing.It will cover 420 sailing. Sailors who are comfortable are encouraged to sail in club regattas.
